Results Discussion
We the members of Mmpire, a student research group, conducted a study on the campus of Jackson State University. At our institution we conducted research to study the effects the Medias negative portrayal of women in hip hop music videos. We used descriptive statistics to give a summarization of different answers. Because time was an issue we used a day to gather our information from people willing participate. So on the campus of Jackson State we had 50 voluntarily participants take our survey along with completed a consent form for their confidentiality. To record all of the answers of the questionnaire to see the various results we utilize SPSS software.
During the beginning of the course our research group had no understanding of what SPSS could possibly mean. With many trials and after a quiz or two we soon learned that SPSS is a software package that is generally used for statistical analysis; the name originally stood for Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. SPSS is apart of the IBM SPSS Data Collection. The SPSS program is generally used by market and health researchers, survey companies, government officials, educations researchers, marketing organization, data miners and every day college students like us the Mmpire group.
Statistics included in the base of the SPSS software include descriptive statistics, the prediction of numerical outcomes, and identifying groups within research studies.
The questionnaire that were given to our participants had been composed of 15 questions that had been designed by Mmpire to measure how the media and their portrayal of women affected everyone around or involved in the participation of hip hop videos.
Our Mmpire research group entered the questions below in to the SPSS data collection group along with the answers that each of the fifty participants. During the beginning of each given survey each member asked each participant to attempt to answer each question both entirely and fully without leaving any of the questions blank. Any question left blank would have resulted in that particular survey being null in void. The questions were listed as followed.

The members of Mmpire did not supervise or teach any of the participants in this study, but did know participants indirectly or had some awareness of said participants.
Individually each member of our group received a chance to hand out surveys and make sure they were entirely completed. Because most members of our group were women majority of our participants just so happened to be male and you can guess most of the women surveys came from Mr. Wilson. All of our surveys were gathered in a day and really did not take long at all once we got the ball rolling. While entering our questions into the spss software program we discovered a few tips to make things easier which include: before anything look at descriptive statistics first, use your hypothesis in theory, review assumptions before analyzing data, significance wont always be found, know that there aren’t any bad results, and carefully select the study you want to analyze.
As a result of our surveys majority of the participants happened to be African American males between the ages 18-25. All of the participants answered that some college was there highest level of education since our study was on an actual university. Most of them agreed that they hardly watch hip hop videos more than three times a week, while the other answers varied. By the end of our survey our participants all wished that we had included more questions to continue to get their view point on the medias negative portrayal of women in hip hop music videos.
